Workplace nutrition programme ideas that go beyond a one off talk

Many workplace wellbeing programmes feature a talk or two. They are welcome, but on their own they rarely change what people eat at 1pm on a Thursday. A stronger approach connects education with the food that is actually available.
Start with the question behind the programme
Is the goal energy, absence, performance, inclusion, culture or retention? The aim shapes the format and the way success is measured.
Programme building blocks
- Staff workshops. Short, practical sessions on topics like blood sugar and energy, gut health, women’s nutrition and nutrition for busy working lives.
- Nutrition clinics. Onsite or online one to one slots where employees can talk through their own questions.
- Campaigns. A themed month with simple prompts, posters and food tastings.
- Wellbeing days. Combined demonstrations, stands and group sessions.
Connect it to the food offer
If a campaign promotes fibre and plants while the canteen offers only fried options, the message falls flat. Review menus, portioning, pricing and placement alongside the education. We explore this in healthy workplace canteen menu.
Involve the catering team
Chefs and catering managers are central to implementation. Training, recipe development and clear nutrition standards help teams deliver consistently across sites and shifts.
Measure what matters
Track participation, uptake of featured dishes, feedback and, where relevant, sales mix. Small, regular measures show progress better than a single survey.
